As a BAIC Oxygen Sensor Supplier China, share with you. Nowadays, everyone in
society cannot do without cars, but being able to drive does not mean knowing
cars. Only by maintaining cars correctly can they operate well.
Car maintenance is a broad topic. For example, the obvious things include cleaning the car and checking the oil.
BAIC Oxygen Sensor
Then, there are some more complicated things, and the oxygen sensor is one of them. Why do you say that? This accessory includes some complexity. Without professional knowledge, it is difficult to find out that something is wrong with it?
What is an oxygen sensor?
First thing first; for those who are not sure what an oxygen sensor is, let us briefly explain its purpose. There is an oxygen sensor head inside the exhaust pipe. The oxygen sensor observes the percentage of oxygen in the exhaust gas.
Therefore, there are two possible problems:
Too little oxygen
Too much oxygen
Neither situation is very good. In either case, the oxygen sensor sends a signal to the engine control unit (ECU) to adjust the amount of fuel entering the engine.
So, why is it important to use oxygen sensors correctly? Because the wrong mixing of oxygen and gasoline will increase the pollutants in the exhaust gas and harm the environment. In addition, the catalytic converter may eventually be damaged, and failure to repair it in time will increase the cost of additional repairs.
Signs of oxygen sensor failure
The following is a list of typical bad oxygen sensor symptoms, which may indicate that the oxygen sensor is malfunctioning. If you find any of the above situations while driving, it is recommended to check whether the oxygen sensor is working properly.
1. Check the engine light
The bright orange "Check Engine" indicator light is one of the earliest signs you will notice that the oxygen sensor is not functioning properly. However, the problem is that this light has multiple meanings. Maybe it's just pointing to the loose fuel tank cap.
Since the reason for this kind of lamp lighting may be ambiguous, it is best to contact a professional who will study the problem more carefully and determine the root cause.
2. Your engine sounds rough
If you find that your vehicle is not driving properly or the engine sounds unsteady, there may be a problem with the oxygen sensor. When the mixture (oxygen and fuel) in a car is too lean or too rich, the efficiency of the engine will decrease.
Sensor damage can easily destroy certain engine functions, such as engine timing, air-fuel ratio and combustion interval. This is what causes the engine to sound rough or perform abnormally.
3. Increase fuel consumption
As we have already mentioned, when the ratio of fuel to oxygen is too lean or too lean, your engine efficiency will decrease. That will affect fuel consumption. If you find that you are spending more on fuel than usual, it may be that the oxygen sensor is malfunctioning. You may find that the cost gradually increases, because in most cases, the efficiency of the oxygen sensor tends to decrease over time. In fact, to put it plainly, the oxygen sensor is also a consumable of the car. It must be replaced after a certain number of kilometers, which will cause more fuel costs.
