The role of the fuel pump is to suck the fuel from the fuel tank, pressurize it and deliver it to the fuel supply pipe, and cooperate with the fuel pressure regulator to establish a certain fuel pressure.
BAIC Fuel Pump delivers high-pressure fuel to the fuel distribution pipe to ensure continuous fuel supply to the fuel injection nozzle.
The fuel pump is composed of an electric motor, a pressure limiter, and a check valve. The electric motor actually works in the fuel in the fuel pump housing. Don’t worry, because there is nothing in the housing that can be ignited. The fuel can lubricate and cool the fuel motor. A check valve is installed at the location, and the pressure limiter is located on the pressure side of the oil pump housing, with a passage leading to the oil inlet.

It sucks fuel from the oil inlet and presses the fuel into the fuel system from the oil outlet. When the pump is turned off The check valve of the fuel outlet is closed to prevent fuel from flowing back to the fuel tank through the fuel pump. The pressure of the fuel pipe maintained by the check valve is called “residual pressure”.
The maximum fuel pressure of the fuel pump depends on the standard of the pressure limiter. If the fuel pump pressure exceeds the predetermined pressure limit, the pressure limiter will open the bypass to allow the fuel to flow back to the fuel pump inlet.
Testing method of fuel pump performance
Some hard faults (such as failure to work, etc.) that occur in an automobile fuel pump are easier to judge, but some intermittent soft faults that are present are more difficult to judge. In this regard, the performance of the fuel pump operating current can be determined by using a car digital multimeter to determine its performance. The specific method is as follows.
(1) Put the car digital multimeter in the current gear, press the function key (SELECT) to adjust to the direct current (DC) gear, and then connect the two test leads in series in the connection line of the fuel pump to be tested.
(2) Start the engine and press the dynamic record key (MAX/MIN) of the digital multimeter of the car when the fuel pump is working, and the maximum and minimum values of the current when the fuel pump is working can be automatically recorded. By comparing the detected data with the normal value, you can determine the cause of the failure.
